10 Things NOT to Do If You’re a Politician

Being a politician isn’t easy- but somehow, some of you make it look impossible. If you want to serve the people without becoming a meme (or a headline for all the wrong reasons), here’s what not to do.

  1. Don’t Run for Office Past Retirement Age

McDonald’s won’t hire you, but you want the nuclear codes? Sit down, Grandpa.

  2. Don’t Make Promises You Can’t Spell (or Keep)

    “Eduacashun Reform.” Sure, buddy.

  3. Don’t Treat Photo Ops Like Therapy

Disaster zones are not your Instagram aesthetic.

  4. Don’t Forget Who You Work For

Hint: It’s the people, not your donors.

  5. Don’t Ignore the Hard Questions

Ducking the press doesn’t make them disappear.

  6. Don’t Overuse “I Was Hacked”

It’s an excuse, not a personality.

  7. Don’t Pretend to Be “One of Us”

    We saw your yacht, Brad.

  8. Don’t Say Dumb Stuff on Live TV

If you need media training, get it. Yesterday.

  9. Don’t Be Shocked When People Fact-Check You

It’s 2025. Everything you say is Googleable in seconds.

  10. Don’t Forget That History Remembers

And it’s usually not kind to clowns.

Final Thought

Politics is about service, not self-promotion. Want to make history for the right reasons? Lead with integrity… or at least basic decency.
